The Executive Board and membership of Commonwealth Games Association Saint Lucia  expressed elation following the capture of two gold medals at the recently concluded  V1 Commonwealth Youth Games held in the Bahamas.

” This is  Saint Lucia’s best outing ever at the Youth level !  We certainly want to express our gratitude to all our members for their contribution to this effort.  The contribution of all our athletes and team officials to the general success of the team  must also be acknowledged. Their support and synergies  made the Saint Lucia vibes a force to be reckoned with, ” President Fortuna Belrose stated.

The team returned home Wednesday to an official welcome. Julien Alfred copped the first gold with victory in the girls 100 metres and the Beach Football team won gold with a 6-2 victory over Trinidad and Tobago in the finals of their sport.

” I  want to acknowledge the consistent effort of all our volunteers in sport and encourage all to stay the course. I also want to recognise the work of the Executive Board of the Saint Lucia Olympic Committee Incorporated/Commonwealth Games Association  in particular the Secretary General Alfred Emmanuel who remained vigilant throughout the process, ” Belrose added.
