The SLOC is fully committed to the development and advancement of the Olympic Movement, Olympism and sport for Saint Lucians of all ages. We value our membership and provide support to enable them to achieve the mandate of developing their sport and spreading the ideals of Olympism. Thus, bringing out quality athletes, administrators, technical officials and other personnel in sport.

The SLOC is the sporting body responsible for the presentation of Saint Lucia’s teams to all multi-coded events, namely the Olympic Games, Paralympic Games, Commonwealth Games, Continental Games, Sub Continental Olympic Youth Games and the Commonwealth Youth Games.

It is our hope that this site will assist in enlightening all on the work of the Saint Lucia Olympic Committee, and that you our reader will become a regular visitor and contributor to the growth and development of this website..

Caribbean Coaching Certification Programme (CCCP)

The Saint Lucia Olympic Committee Inc, in its mission to develop the level of coaching available to the island’s athletes, initiated the Caribbean Coaching Certification Programme (CCCP) course in November of 2019. After certifying 56 coaches and sports leaders in the first phase, the SLOC Inc is opening up nominations for the next group of coaches. The foundational course is non-sport-specific and geared towards new & younger coaches. Topics covered include: The Role of the Coach; The Coach as a Leader; Developing Sports Skills; Developing Fitness; Nutrition, Rest and Regeneration; Safety, Injury & Recovery; Event Planning; Sport Not Drugs; Sport for Persons with Disabilities; Planning Training Sessions and Programmes.

Course Dates The dates and estimated times of the course for federation and affiliate club-nominated coaches are:

  • Thursday 19 March 5:30pm – 8:30pm
  • Saturday 21 March 9:00am – 4:30pm
  • Tuesday 23 March 5:30pm – 8:30pm
  • Thursday  25 March 5:30pm – 8:30pm

The SLOC Inc is also working with the Ministry of Education to provide certification to Primary School Physical Education teachers over the Easter Holiday Break from April 6-8. 

Full participation in all sessions as well as satisfactory completion of the course workbook is mandatory for certification.  

The attached application linked here must be submitted by Monday 24th February 2020. Applications showing clear thought, planning and collaboration with nominating organizations will be favored. Four subsequent quarterly briefs will be expected, to help the SLOC see the progress of these coaches and consider them for future training and development opportunities.  Applications should be submitted via email to both SLOC@candw.lc and Andybehl@gmail.com. Selected participants should receive notification by Friday 28th February 2020.
