SLOC Inc Makes another Substantial Contribution to NFS Activities and Programmes

The Saint Lucia Olympic Committee Incorporated (SLOC Inc.)  made another substantial Financial contribution to Member Federations recently, July 10,  for the execution of several programmes and activities for 2017. Representatives of the various members received the disbursements during  a presentation ceremony at the Headquarters  of the SLOC Inc, Barnard Hill .

Among the recipients were  Rugby Football Union who received $8,965.00 towards  hosting of Carnival Beach Rugby Fives Tournament. The  Saint Lucia Football Association  were recipients of funding towards  two events – $13,350.00 for the hosting of CONCACAF Women’s Under 17 Football Championship and  $26,700.00 for participating in the 2017 CONCACAF Caribbean Women’s Under 20 Qualifier in Bermuda

The Saint Lucia Boxing Association were presented with  – $5,000.00 that helped with offsetting expenses incurred during the recent hosting of Creole Boxing Championships. The Karate-do Federation of St. Lucia  were presented with  $2,363.70 towards accommodation and meals for two persons travelling to Suriname for Caribbean Karate Federation Championship

The Athletics Association  received $8,134.79 that was a reimbursement of expenses under their Activities Budget, and the Table-Tennis Association collected a cheque for  $10,272.00 that covered airline tickets to Cuba for four  players to the  Caribbean Table-Tennis Championship.

This recent wave of presentations by the SLOC Inc has brought the Grand Total payout for the period January 1 2017 to July 10 2017 to EC 431,044.20.

Commonwealth Games

The Executive Board and membership of Commonwealth Games Association Saint Lucia  expressed elation following the capture of two gold medals at the recently concluded  V1 Commonwealth Youth Games held in the Bahamas.  

” This is  Saint Lucia’s best outing ever at the Youth level !  We certainly want to express our gratitude to all our members for their contribution to this effort.  The contribution of all our athletes and team officials to the general success of the team  must also be acknowledged. Their support and synergies  made the Saint Lucia vibes a force to be reckoned with, ” President Fortuna Belrose stated.

The team returned home Wednesday to an official welcome. Julien Alfred copped the first gold with victory in the girls 100 metres and the Beach Football team won gold with a 6-2 victory over Trinidad and Tobago in the finals of their sport.

” I  want to acknowledge the consistent effort of all our volunteers in sport and encourage all to stay the course. I also want to recognise the work of the Executive Board of the Saint Lucia Olympic Committee Incorporated/Commonwealth Games Association  in particular the Secretary General Alfred Emmanuel who remained vigilant throughout the process, ” Belrose added.

SLOC INC. Makes Presentation To Affiliates

Representatives of member associations with SLOC Inc President Fortuna Belrose

Three affiliates of the Saint Lucia Olympic Committee Incorporated (SLOC INC.), received assistance for various activities being undertaken by their Associations.

Public Relations Officer of The Saint Lucia Boxing Association Shannon Lebourne received EC 15,000 towards  efforts to upgrade the Boxing Gym at Vigie.

A number of young Table Tennis Players will be headed to a junior Cadet Table Tennis tournament in Guyana and Secretary  of the local Table Tennis Association David Ferdinand , collected  EC $ 14, 850 on their behalf towards the venture.

Saint Lucia will be sending a team  to the Jean Pierre Under-16 competition in Trinidad between March 28 to April 9. Adella Arthur, Secretary of Netball Association was present for the contribution of EC 20, 376.75.
